MCPL Allan Stewart

Master Corperal Allan Stewart - KIA April 11th, 2007

"The first time i met Allan i didn't think much of him, i thought just another ordinary guy in uniform. It wasn't until i went on 3 separate courses with him that i found out what kind of person he was. we were on course down in Gagetown, NB. The course was almost 3 months long and we were aloud to have weekends off to relax and do what we wanted to do. ow i always knew that Stewie had a family and that he loved them but i never knew how dedicated he was to them. Every weekend when all the guys would get dressed up and put on their best clothes to go to the bar, Stewie would stay in the shacks and study or watch movies. One weekend when we were ll getting ready to go out, I saw Stewie sitting on his bed alone staring at the ceiling, i felt bad for him so i asked if he wanted to come out with s, he sat up and simply said "no thanks", i asked him why, and he told me " if I go out and spend 80 bucks on drinks and a cab, that's 80 bucks I don't ave to spend on my family."It didn't really hit me until later that when most guys would jump at the opportunity to go out, Stewie would pass it up so he could do something with is family." written by Colin Oakly

On April 11 2007, Stew and I were able to talk for a while as our patrol was waiting to be replaced after 72 hours plus on a mission. In the 50 degree Celsius heat, we lay under the camnet and talked a lot about our wives and children and back home. We talked about his new business he was starting up, selling gaming creations on the internet. We talked about our leave that we just got back from, how he loved his new Texas mickey of Jack Daniels and how he was sorry he had to leave here before she was all gone. Our replacements were on their way and with only 3 km more to go, an IED was struck with their lead vehicle. Within seconds all crews were mounted and we waited for the word to assist. When we received the call Stew lead the way to help our friends.Stew loved his family foremost, his Regiment I think might have been a distant second, but on that day all his love was for his comrades. His total dedication for his comrades can never be forgotten, Written by Ken Nykorak

First and foremost, Allen loved his family. He was a dedicated husband. I remember that he always kept this large photo of Christa on his desk. He loved her very much, and you would always pick up on that when you listened to him talking about her. He would brag sometimes about how lucky he was to have found a woman who would put up with him. He was a loving father. He loved his girls. He was especially proud of his daughters, Brittany & Sarah, and he spoke of them often. MCpl Stewart was an exceptional solider and he was no stranger to overseas deployments. He proudly completed two tours of duty, His first in Bosnia in 2001, and his second in Afghanistan from Aug 03 to Feb 04. He loved being a solider. It’s who he was. It made no difference if he was helping gather stores for one of the Sqn’s going out on Exercise, or patrolling the roads in Afghanistan, MCpl Stewart wore the uniform with pride and always gave his absolute best.
